Basement Egress Window Wells

Overview

Since 2000 the International Building Code (IRC) requires that every basement sleeping room have at least one operable window with a clear opening of 5.7 square feet to act as an egress window (escape window) in the event of an emergency. The code also requires that the maximum allowable distance from the floor to the window sill is no more than 44 inches in order to be acceptable as an emergency escape or egress window.

This well also requires an egress window well that has a minimum of 9 square foot of surface area and a 36 inch projection off the surface of the building. Any egress window well that is deeper than 44" must have either a ladder or steps to allow safe egress.

It's available in two colors wicker (light beige) and granite (gray) to blend with your residence. The wells interior dimensions are 37 1/3" wide x 36" deep x 60" high. The 60" height can be cut down to any size needed.

REDI-EXIT® Economy Series Basement Egress Window Wells

The REDI-EXIT® Economy Series Basement Egress Window Wells are constructed from heavy 18 gauge (.0475") galvanized (90G) corrugated steel, that is painted white on the inside and tan on the outside.

These popular economical wells are available in two widths; 55" and 67", and in five heights; 24", 36", 48", 60", and 72".

These one piece Egress Window Wells have flat, pre-punched flanges that allow easy attachment for bolt to frame or anchor to foundation applications. The heavy 3/4" top is rolled for extra strength and safety.

REDI-EXIT® Garden Step Egress Window Wells

The REDI-EXIT® Garden Step Basement Egress Window Well is constructed from heavy 18 gauge (.0475") galvanized (90G) corrugated steel that is painted white.

These three piece wells are available in 49" and 55" widths, and 60", and 72" heights. They are designed have a variety of plantings on each level to give you a beautiful view when looking out your basement window.

The REDI-EXIT® Garden Step Egress Well have flat, pre-punched flanges that allow easy attachment for bolt to frame, or anchor to foundation applications, and come with a hanging bracket. The heavy 3/4" top is rolled for extra strength and safety.

REDI-EXIT® Designer Series Egress Window Wells

The one piece REDI-EXIT® Designer Series Egress Window Wells are constructed of multi-layered fiberglass mesh and resin for maximum strength with an interior surface that looks like natural white stone.

The attractive stone fiberglass finish gives a beautiful appearance when viewed from the inside of your room at a fraction of the cost of a real stone window well.

These wells are available in 53" and 66" widths and in 46", 60" and 72" heights. A 12" extension is available to make the well 84" high. They have built-in steps for easy escape and a flange for anchor to foundation applications.
